The Marks of Authenticity That Turn "A" Jacket Into an "A-2 Jacket"
Currently we offer the goatskin leather jacket in Dark Seal Brown. While most of the original jackets were made of horsehide, several of the makers of the time used goatskin. Some may have been steer-hide.Lining started in silk but was soon replaced by cotton in various shades. It has the collar stand that was dropped on later models. We are using the rounded style snaps. We have also added a label that had the information as taken off of one of my original jackets. The "coat hanger" is like the original leather style with the "box stitch". The "Army Air Forces" inspection stamps are also in the lining with the miniature logo in white added to the zipper flap. This jacket is the WWII style. As per the originals, there are NO side entry pockets, interior pockets, pen holders, Velcro patches or other features that were added years later. This is your virgin jacket just waiting for you to make it your own! (please see our "Designing Your Jacket" page for ideas)
